GETTING INVOLVED --- YOUR PARTICIPATION IS IMPORTANT!

If we are going to make things happen, it is imperative that we get as many people as possible to the Transportation Meetings here in the area.

I got my start by participating with the Disability Rights Transportation Committee. A number of CATS officials attend these meetings and we are able to take action on things that need to be changed. I started attending these meetings several years ago and have found that numerous changes have been accomplished by the dialogue established during these meetings. The Disability Rights Transportation Comittee meets the second Thursday of each odd numbered month (January, March, May, etc.) at 10 AM. If you have a physical handicap, are disabled in any way or represent someone who is disabled or handicapped, this is the best way to get your issues before CATS and try to get them resolved. We need people to attend these meetings monthly to get things changed. The meetings are held at the Disability Rights offices on Executive Center Drive in the building directly across the street from the Social Security Office off Albemarle Rd. Take bus 9 and get off at the 2nd bus stop on Executive Center Drive The building is the fourth building on the left.

Meetings are also held by CATS and they ask for general participation from the public. A number of meetings have been scheduled for the next several weeks for budget and transportation concerns. CATS wants to hear from you. Please try to attend these public meetings and express yourself. Your issues will not be heard if you do not participate in these meetings. The more people who attend, the more likely we will attain the changes necessary. Please try to attend as many meetings as possible so that we can all be heard.
