SUGGESTED BUS ROUTE CHANGES TO THE LYNX LIGHT RAIL

When the LYNX Light Rail was introduced in November of 2007, there were many connecting buses added to the LYNX stations along the lower two thirds of the LYNX line from South End to Pineville. However, there are no connecting buses from the upper portion of the LYNX Light Rail line beginning and ending at the Light Rail Stations. Buses are still running near the track and on to the Charlotte Transportation Center (CTC).

We suggest that FOUR bus routes should stop going to the Charlotte Transportation Center (CTC). They should begin and end at the LYNX Light Rail stations.

FOR THE EAST/WEST BLVD STATION

Route 10 (West Blvd) currently crosses the LYNX East/West Blvd station and continues to and from South Blvd., where it travels South Blvd. to the CTC. We suggest that Route 10 begin and end at the East/West Blvd. station and no longer travel to the CTC, with connections to Route 10 via the LYNX line.,

Route 19 (Park Rd.) currently comes within just a few blocks of the East/West Blvd. LYNX station. You can actually see the LYNX station when it turns at Euclid and East Blvd. We suggest that Route 19 no longer travel past East Blvd./Euclid Ave. towards town and travel the 3 blocks to the East/West Blvd. Light Rail station, beginning and ending service at the LYNX line and no longer come into the CTC.


FOR THE CARSON STREET STATION

Route 2 (Ashley Park) currently travels along Morehead St. to the CTC. We suggest that Route 2 should stop serving the CTC and begin and end service at the Carson Street Station of the LYNX line. Connections could easily be made from the CTC to the Carson Street Station via LYNX. For those passengers wishing to travel through town and to Wilkinson Blvd., they can take the Route 5 bus and transfer to Route 2 at the Wal-Mart Super Center on Ashley Rd.

Route 18 (Selwyn Ave.) currently travels along Morehead to McDowell and on to the CTC. We suggest that Route 18 no longer turn at McDowell, but continue along Morehead to the Carson Street Station, beginning and ending service at the Carson Street Station with passengers able to easily connect via the LYNX line from the CTC to the Carson Street Station.  
The Orange line Streetcar Trolleys can take passengers from Uptown directly to the Carson St. station at Tryon St. and Morehead. This trolley runs every 8 minutes and is free.
